He had zero chance of an NHL career. Who cares? Make room for Skinner!

Kinda doubt being buried in the minors was his issue. Probably knees, hip, or groin. He definitely could have picked up work in another league.

Was sitting on the poopter and couldn't help thinking that Pittsburgh and Edmonton could hook up in a trade and it might make sense.

Edmonton - P.Kessel (assuming he would waive to come to Edmonton)

Pittsburgh - A.Sekera & R.Strome (assuming Sekera would waive to go to Pittsburgh)

RNH / McDavid / Pulju

Lucic / Draisaitl / Kessel

????? / ????? / Caggiula

Khaira / ????? / Kassian

Rebuild the bottom six with a couple of savvy UFA signings.

Now I’m not condemning your proposal, but I would like to hear your thoughts on why Pittsburgh would make such a trade.

Sullivan apparently doesn't like Kessel and the feeling is mutal the other way. Rumor has it they are listening to offers and want defense.

Don't know if mentioned, but Ryan Mantha's career might be done too. Guy can't see properly due to blood clot

Yeah that's a real shame and pretty rough thing to happen to such a young guy. Optimistically it looks like the doctors haven't ruled out his return. Assuming you read the recent article discussing Mantha it also spoke of how Carl Soderburg is legally blind in his left eye so it's not impossible for him to keep playing.

For sure, but Soderberg was a more highly touted player. And while one guy is blind( maybe more) there are still 700 that aren't. Odds just aren't in his favour

Costing us probably Nurse/Klef and JP/Yamamoto/1st. Maybe more,

Kessel has quite a friendly contract at 6.8mil.

I’d just as soon they not make a big trade at all, but rather ride out course with what they have. Unless someone is willing to take one of our ugly contracts with the 10th that is.

You want him to tap in those empty netters that Mcdavid sets up. None of your other plug wingers seem to be able to figure out how to do that.

He’s not a driver. He’s a passenger and at at his cap hit we can get that for half the price.
